The purpose of the jointly hosted event between the University of New Mexico and Arizona State University is to discuss tribal community comprehensive planning needs and to develop a vision and agenda for a tribal planning institute. The summit will bring together tribal planners from Arizona and New Mexico, key policy stakeholders, and university planning faculty from the two Schools of Planning at UNM and ASU. The conference is considered a first and important step toward defining comprehensive planning and its role in tribal communities. NCAI and the Department of Interior will partner in the event to carry the discussion forward from the Summit that centered on the important role of comprehensive planning.
