Proposed Meeting Goals:

  • Convene experts and contribute to an analysis of the landscape of Native youth suicide prevention knowledge, research, and policy issues and gaps.
  • Identify opportunities to support the existing work and for coordination and collaboration of scholars and practitioners.
  • Identify barriers in moving existing work forward and strategies to address them.
  • Inform the agenda of and identify resources (i.e. faculty, knowledge/data, appropriate pre-work) for the 2007 American Indian and Alaska Native Policy Summit on Suicide Prevention, Intervention, and Healing.

  • What pre-work might be appropriate for the participating tribal delegations?
  • How can we best address any trauma anxiety that emerges during the Summit proceedings?
  • How do you think we could best share the results of the Summit with broader Indian Country after the event is over?
