Trust Reform

The United States government has a unique trust responsibility to tribal governments and their members. The Department of the Interior has long had the responsibility of meeting this responsibility; however, the Department has grossly mismanaged tribal resources and individual Indians' assets. Litigation, administration policy, and legislation currently are attempting to address the issue of trust reform by reorganizing the Department of the Interior so that it better meets the trust responsibility.
