Skills And Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will understand how to build relationships with donors and feel comfortable soliciting donations of time, money, and energy toward a collective commitment to the mission and goals of AIGC and supporting Native students. While no one candidate will embody all the qualifications enumerated below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences:
· Master’s Degree in marketing, communications, or related field required, plus 5 years’ experience in fundraising, or equivalent combination of education and other experience (e.g., sales or private banking) that demonstrates tenacity, creativity, follow-through, and strong relationship-building skills.
· Familiarity with American Indian history and culture; ability to stay current with trends in philanthropy and current Indian Affairs events.
· Strong Microsoft Office Suite and Access skills, and ability to learn new technologies; Raiser’s Edge Donor Management software experience a plus.
· Comfortable and confident engaging at the highest levels, and adept at influencing opinion and securing commitments; ability to analyze progress and make necessary adjustments throughout the cultivation process.
· Superior written, verbal, and presentation skills to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization, external partners, funders, individual donors, tribal partners, volunteers, and the general the public.
· Demonstrated ability to simplify complex themes and activities into a short, compelling presentation or written piece; ability to discuss the role of education in promoting social justice and economic opportunity.
· Experience in grant writing and developing business proposals; previous federal grant writing experience is highly desired.
· Strong relationship building and interpersonal communication skills needed to communicate through a variety of ways including in-person thoughtfully and effectively, email, social media, etc.
· Goal oriented with a commitment to personal growth and continuous improvement.
· A proactive approach to decision-making and problem solving; ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
· Strong project management skills and the ability to balance competing tasks and meet deadlines.
· Confidence to work both independently and take direction.
· High ethical standards, strict adherence to donor confidentiality, and genuine interest in developing authentic relationships.
Valid Driver’s License required. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

Duties And Responsibilities:
Under the leadership and supervision of the Director of Strategic Partnerships, the Development Officer will participate in fundraising efforts to ensure that AIGC has the financial resources it needs to fulfill its mission. S/He/They will focus significant time in direct interaction with individual donors, corporate executives, foundation program officers and other key decision makers.
Donor Coordination and Stewardship
- Manage a portfolio of 60+ major donors and prospects consisting of individuals, corporations, foundations, Tribes and Native organizations.
- Identify, cultivate, solicits and steward donors and prospects, through visits and other forms of direct personal contact, in accordance with performance targets.
- Support the cultivation and stewardship of major gifts/investments in the form of endowments, estate gifts, annual gifts, internships, and event/program sponsorships.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the organization’s annual fundraising campaigns, including other general giving and special fundraising activities.
- Assist in maintaining contact and donor databases and files.
- Produce high quality correspondence and materials for development purposes including draft solicitation proposals, reports, letters, and other correspondence.
- Track key donor relationship activity and progress; create reports as required by management that accurately reflect progress toward strengthening relationships and increasing donor support.
Cultivation and Strategy
- Supports initiatives within annual giving, membership, and alumni relation’s areas, from initial planning and coordination stages to implementation and follow through.
- Develop and implement strategies to raise support for the financial well-being of AIGC from individuals, tribes, foundations, and corporate partners to assure sustainability of AIGC’s programs.
- Develop outreach strategies to attract and contact potential institutional partners in need of qualified Native interns and graduates to meet their hiring needs.
- Research and facilitate major grant opportunities including building relationships with foundation program officers; Clear and compelling writing style and the ability to address funder needs and requirements, and articulate AIGC unique value add in i grant proposals and Letters of Interest.
Event Coordination and Support
- Assists with special events, sponsor, and exhibitor relations; support solicitation and organization silent auction donations and activities.
- Assists in planning and implementation of events, as assigned, including invitation production, mailings, RSVP lists, event coordination and day of event support and coordination.
- Develop and participate in strategic donor engagement opportunities, such as small events for select individual donors/prospects, trade show and conference receptions, public speaking engagements, larger donor recognition events, and service on prominent boards or committees.
- Provide executive-level support to AIGC team members in preparation for donor interactions, including briefing materials in advance of meetings with donors and prospects.

Salary And Benefits:
The full-time salary range for this role is between $51,000 - $59,000, plus a benefits package that supports employees’ overall well-being.
