? Minimum five (5) years relevant work experience with no less than three (3) years’ managing staff, building internal operations, and implementing a strategic plan.
? Five (5) or more years of demonstrated successful experiences in community organizing and operating community programs.
? Strong fundraiser with a proven track record in grant writing and raising funds from private foundations.
? Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated skills in professional writing.
? Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse staff and community partners.
? Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
? Strong commitment to the mission, goals, and values of NIYC.
? Demonstrated successful experience and commitment to working in and with Indigenous communities.
? Master’s degree required or professional degree in a related field.
Duties And Responsibilities:
The Executive Director (ED) of the National Indian Youth Council, Inc. (NIYC) works closely with the Board of Directors on strategies to improve access to services in New Mexico with large American Indian communities including Albuquerque, Farmington, Gallup, and Santa Fe. The ED leads the organization and staff in designing, planning, and implementing employment and training programs for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant and related program funds. The ED directs staff and develops program infrastructure to support the long-term growth and sustainability of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
? Actively develops and maintains the organization’s strategic plan and working portfolio approved by the Board of Directors.
? Oversees and reports on the organization's results to the Board of Directors.
? Responsible for planning and direction of NIYC’s day to day operations and programs.
? Develops, implements, and maintains the organization’s policies, procedures, and compliance and operational reporting/metrics.
? Responsible for implementing NIYC’s program goals and maintain the organization’s financial position and diversifying funding sources.
? Builds and maintains strong, diverse external relationships and partnerships with clients, community organizations, local, tribal, state, and federal entities.
? Provides supervision of NIYC management staff and promotes organizational teamwork and culture.
? Ability to work during NIYC’s normal operating hours and as necessary in the evening and weekends.
? Ability to travel, as needed – up to 25% of working time.
? Physical effort/lifting requirements - up to 25 lbs., for lifting supplies and materials, as needed*.
? Position frequently requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
? Position continually requires the ability to talk and hear both in person and over the phone*.
? Position continually requires visual acuity as well as hand and finger dexterity to operate equipment, read, and use a keyboard*

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 (commensurate with experience)
