Join Tribal Tech in a key position! As a Behavioral Health Clinician, you will tackle the urgent health and wellness challenges facing Native American communities by delivering telehealth counseling support to Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) schools. Working directly with staff, students, and families, you will help ensure culturally responsive and trauma-informed care is accessible when it is needed as part of the BIE Behavioral Health and Wellness Program (BHWP). You will join a passionate, mission-driven team committed to fostering lasting improvements in the mental health of Native American students across the nation. The BIE BHWP provides culturally relevant, evidence-based, and trauma-informed behavioral health and wellness services for school staff, students, and families at all Bureau-funded institutions, including Bureau-operated schools, Tribally Controlled Schools, post-secondary institutions, and Tribal colleges and universities. Skills & Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge and experience in conducting behavioral health assessments, leading individual and group counseling sessions, and facilitating psychoeducational sessions focused on behavioral health and/or wellness topics. Demonstrated knowledge of clinical issues/culturally appropriate intervention techniques. Effective communication skills, including how to summarize and convey complex information to multiple audiences. Proven ability to form positive, effective, and culturally competent relationships with clients and team members. Experience and background working with Tribal communities. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and deliver quality results under tight deadlines, with keen attention to detail. Ability to work both individually and in a team environment. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Adobe Connect, and database management. Strong skills in written and verbal communication, assessment, advocacy, and crisis response. Ability to provide on-call and after-hours service as needed. Will be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a background clearance.

Education Requirement: Must possess a master’s degree in a behavioral health related field, such as social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy/counseling, or rehabilitation counseling from an accredited graduate program. Experience Requirement: Shall have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in providing counseling/therapy to children, adolescents, and/or adults and a minimum of one (1) year experience providing crisis intervention services. Experience working within Tribal communities and schools although not required, is very highly desired. Licensure/Certification Requirement: Mental Health Specialists shall possess a valid, unrestricted counseling license/certification from a state or U.S. Territory that grants legal authority to provide counseling services as an independent practitioner as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or other types of fully licensed behavioral health professionals for a minimum of three (3) years preferably in California, Oregon and/or Washington state. Clinicians shall meet the standards of professional and ethical conduct prescribed by their particular discipline or licensing board.


Duties & Responsibilities

Major Duties and Responsibilities: Must have the ability to work 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST. Perform initial evaluation of prospective clients (i.e., students and staff) based on their needs, desires, and barriers. Conduct psychosocial assessments; coordinate, monitor, evaluate and advocate for appropriate services. Build rapport with clients and relay client care concerns to Behavioral Health Lead. Develop person-centered, solution-focused care plans for students, families, and staff, and provide therapeutic support as needed. Maintain constant communication with clients while addressing their concerns. Monitor client progress and modify their treatment plans as needed. Ensure timely completion of assessments, treatment plan reviews, and discharge summaries to ethically manage all phases of therapy. Demonstrate the utilization of appropriate evidence-based and solution-focused interventions in the treatment of clients. Coordinate with social and medical agencies, healthcare providers, and community outreach programs to provide clients with needed referral services. Educate clients on stress and trauma coping mechanisms.

Complete documentation in accordance with tele-health counseling services policy and procedure. Participate as a member of clinical team to secure clinical feedback and direction on caseload. Adhere to patient confidentiality and comply with program policy, state licensure guidelines, and federal regulations under the privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Provide training & technical assistance (TTA) to a portfolio regarding the prevention of substance use/misuse, prevention of suicide, promotion of mental health, and addressing behavior management skill building. Conduct webinars, conference calls, telephone support, and email with the BIE audience. Assist the BIE audience in strengthening existing services and/or begin building infrastructure for prevention efforts. Coordinate with other TA Coordinators and the contract staff to ensure collaboration, communication, joint development of materials, and training. Provide culturally appropriate clinical services for various mental health, co-occurring disorders, and age groups. Must adhere to mandated reporting laws. Other duties as assigned.
