Job Summary: MTERA was awarded a $62M EPA Solar for All (SFA) award to plan and deploy residential and community solar projects for the benefit of the 36 Tribal Nations located in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin in partnership with 5+ coalition partners with experience working in Tribal energy. The coalition will leverage its expertise to build a program that empowers Tribes and Tribal energy champions and provides project-deployment technical assistance necessary to plan and build residentially benefiting solar projects on Tribal Lands in the Midwest. MTERA is seeking an experienced Energy Data Manager to lead the development of an organization-wide data collection, management, and analysis plan to document the impact and work of MTERA programs for Member Tribes, associated partners, and funders, with a particular emphasis on the Solar for All program. In addition, this person will play a key role in leading the development of data-related communications and visuals to support storytelling around MTERA’s work and impact for Tribes as well as general stakeholders. This role will provide technical assistance on data collection, analysis, and management to individual Tribes associated with MTERA programs. This role requires a strong background in data management, reporting tools, performance tracking, and data communication. This role requires familiarity with the solar landscape and a strong understanding of Tribal sovereignty, especially as it pertains to data. The Data & Reporting Manager will work closely with the internal MTERA Solar for All team, program partners, and Tribes to ensure accurate data representation and insights that support program goals, funding, and compliance. This role will directly report to the MTERA Solar for All Lead.

Through their work on the MTERA SFA program and collaboration with other MTERA programs, the Energy Data Manager will play a key role in MTERA’s overall vision of defining the Midwest Tribal energy landscape through data collection, analysis, and storytelling. This position is funded by the Solar for All program, which runs through April 2029; while funding for the role beyond this is not guaranteed, the role has significant potential to evolve to support data initiatives through other MTERA programs pending receipt of additional funding.


Skills & Qualifications

Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in relevant fields - 4+ years of experience in data management, reporting, or analytics, preferably in the energy sector - Proven track record of managing large datasets and providing actionable insights through reporting and analysis - Advanced proficiency in data manipulation and analysis, including familiarity and experience with data analysis and management tools - Strong problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, willingness to ask questions, and self- motivated - Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills - Understanding of and/or experience working with Tribes and knowledge of Tribal history, sovereignty, and cultures - Familiarity with mapping tools (ArcGIS preferred)


Duties & Responsibilities

Summary of Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities are as follows: - Lead the development of an organization-wide data collection, management, and analysis plan to document the impact and work of MTERA energy programs for Member Tribes, associated partners, and funders, with a particular emphasis on the Solar for All program - Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across systems. - Lead the development of data communication-related materials, including dashboards, visuals, and other documents to support storytelling on MTERA’s work and impact on Tribes as well as general stakeholders. - Develop a keen understanding of Solar for All data reporting requirements, and lead all data- related activities and reports to support compliance with EPA Solar for All requirements. - Provide technical support to individual Tribes to support the aggregation of data for strategic energy planning purposes, ensuring all data management practices respect and promote Tribal data sovereignty. - Collaborate with the internal MTERA team to ensure data-related activities are effectively and efficiently integrated throughout the different stages of Solar for All projects. - Collaborate with the MTERA Communications staff to ensure that materials related to data communication align with the organization's overall messaging and communications about MTERA’s work and impact. - Assist in developing communication strategies that highlight data stories and support MTERA’s public outreach efforts.


Salary & Benefits

$90,000-$120,000 annually
