About BLIS Collective

The BLIS Collective is a movement weaving and narrative infrastructure organization dedicated to sparking radical collaboration and narrative alignment between and within Black, Indigenous, and transformative social movements to repair, decolonize, and reshape culture.

We implement a dual strategy of building power inside and outside the collective, focusing on narrative research, local and national coalition building, cultural production, and capacity building. Together with our Collective members, BLIS is developing a 50-year cultural strategy for liberation and decolonization.

The BLIS Collective was founded in 2022 by Savannah Romero and Trevor Smith and is a fiscally sponsored project of Possibility Labs.


The Operation & Project Manager is responsible for driving operational efficiency and overseeing the successful execution of key organizational projects. The position blends leading in the organization's day-to-day operations with strategic project management, ensuring that our research, coalition-building, and programming within the Collective are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with our organizatAbout Possibility Labs (PL)

BIPOC-led movements and power-building initiatives, as well as funders and donors who want to fund BIPOC-led social movement groups, need effective and values-aligned infrastructure to gather and deploy money at the speed and scale necessary to build the power needed to create a world where BIPOC and historically low-income communities have self-determination, clean air, clean water, and clean energy.

Possibility Labs’ mission is to accelerate and empower community-driven solutions built, led, and governed by and for low-income and BIPOC communities by providing the essential financial and legal infrastructure to manage and move integrated capital to BIPOC-led movement groups. We aim to advance racial, gender, and climate justice and a new economy where everyone thrives.

Skills & Qualifications


Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience in operations management, project management, or a similar role within a non-profit, mission-driven organization or social enterprise.
  • Proven experience in operations management, project management, and coalition coordination, preferably within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams, members, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Asana, Rello, Microsoft Project), as well as experience in vendor and budget management.
  • Strong understanding of organizational operations, including process efficiency, resource management, and administrative support.
  • A commitment and understanding of social movements, particularly those geared towards liberation and decolonization.
  • Ability to take initiative, make informed decisions, and provide strategic guidance to the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, building and maintaining positive relationships with team members, coalition partners, collective members, and other stakeholders.


Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Operations:

  • Operational Management: Manage and optimize daily operational functions, ensuring that all internal processes are efficient and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the Co-founder (recording meeting notes, drafting documents, and developing methods to maintain files and records)
  • Meeting Coordination: Coordinate and schedule meetings, including internal team meetings and external engagements with partners and stakeholders. Ensure meetings are well-organized, with agendas and follow-up actions communicated to all participants.

Project & Coalition Management:

  • Project Coordination: Oversee the coordination of critical projects and coalitions that BLIS participates in, including managing project trackers, setting timelines, managing budgets, and coordinating with team members, coalition members, and other stakeholders.
  • Coalition Management: Manage relationships with coalition members and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, shared objectives, and alignment on project goals. Act as one of the primary points of contact for coalition-related activities, coordinating efforts across multiple organizations and teams.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports and meeting minutes. Ensure all project and coalition activities are documented and communicated effectively to all relevant stakeholders.

Vendor, Member, and Partner Relations

  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain vendor relationships, ensuring that all services are delivered to meet organizational standards and project needs.
  • Member Coordination: Coordinate with BLIS Collective members to foster strong relationships and encourage active participation and radical collaboration across the Collective. Respond to member inquiries, provide coordination support, and facilitate member involvement in projects and events.
  • Partner Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with external partners, ensuring that collaborations are productive and aligned with BLIS’s mission and goals.


Event Management

  • Event Planning: Plan and execute BLIS events, including workshops, webinars, and in-person events. Manage all aspects of event logistics, from venue selection and setup to participant registration and post-event evaluation.
  • Budget and Resource Allocation: Develop and manage budgets for events, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and within budget constraints.


Supervisory Responsibility

The Operations Project Manager has no supervisory responsibility at this time.

Expected hours of work


This is a full-time, fully remote position. Standard BLIS Collective office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., based on your local time zone. While we prioritize work-life balance, some flexibility in hours may be required to accommodate meetings or deadlines across different time zones.

Travel

Occasional domestic travel will be required for meetings and conferences.

Salary & Benefits

$70,000-$80,000 annually
