ORGANIZATIONAL VISION

The Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance (TERA) is a cross-cultural, multi-organizational collaborative that works to revitalize ecology, economy, and culture through indigenous-led stewardship. The mission of TERA, founded in 2019, is to cultivate land stewardship, livelihood, and leadership skills that weave collaborative relationships between Tribal members and the community at large for the benefit of all lands and beings. Our program goals include:

  • Strengthen ties to land and culture
  • Connect tribal members with meaningful livelihoods and culturally relevant work in their ancestral territories
  • Regenerate the local ecology of the North Coast Ranges, and improve resilience to fire
  • Build capacity for native voices to play a central role in land stewardship

POSITION SUMMARY

The program coordinator will assist and support the Programs Team with outreach, engagement, nursery management, and the EcoCultural Fire program. The position will report directly to the Program Manager and collaborate with other TERA supervisors as needed. The job duties are split with 35% outreach and community engagement, 35% Training and Burn Logistics, 15% Tule Nursery, and 15% Teamwork.

Skills & Qualifications

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • 3 + years of demonstrated ability to effectively support Tribal or nonprofit programming in program logistics, outreach, education, or stewardship work
  • Ability to effectively use and navigate Google Drive, Microsoft Office, and other computer programs
  • Knowledge of ecocultural stewardship, and flora and fauna of the North Coast ranges
  • Experience working with Tribal communities; willingness to learn about contemporary challenges, concerns, and interests of Tribal communities and ecology in Pomo country
  • Maintain a respectful and professional relationship with existing and new partners
  • Able to work with diverse groups, build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Able to develop and follow a prioritized plan of work, set and keep deadlines, and work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to listen well, and write and speak effectively
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, resourceful
  • Able to contribute to a high-functioning, collaborative, dynamic team environment
  • Vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Depending on interest in optional Field Work, have the ability to carry 30 lbs and walk in uneven terrain

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AA or Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, ecology, or similar field

Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Outreach & Community Engagement Support: 8-12 hours per week
    • Attend outreach and community events with the TERA crew or Program Manager on behalf of TERA
    • Schedule outreach, community, and program-related events in TERA calendars and coordinate with appropriate staff
    • Help with outreach on specific grants as assigned
    • Maintain professional and positive working relationships with community partners
    • Collaborate with Program Staff by presenting at trainings as needed
    • Maintain and update TERA mailing and outreach list
    • Keep stickers, brochures, RX Fire packets, and tabling box stocked and ready to go, reorder as needed
  • Training and Burn Logistics: 8-12 hours per week
    • Support logistics for TERA trainings including coordinating with registered students, preparing participant rosters, securing DocuSign registration info, coordinating food and bathrooms
    • Support logistics for EcoCultural burning including preparing participant rosters, printing burn paperwork, coordinating food and bathrooms
    • Ensure accurate post-program/ training documentation
    • Gather participant info and draft Training Stipends in protocol with TERA financial procedures
    • Support Program Manager with outreach by distributing flyers and sending outreach emails

  • Nursery Management: 4-6 hours per week
    • Set up and manage nursery for Tule starts
    • Manage seed collecting in the field
    • Manage and update seasonal round

  • Teamwork: 0-2 hours per week
    • Support office upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance as assigned by the Program Manager
    • OPTIONAL - Participate in EcoCultural stewardship work with TERA crew up to 2 days per month if desired by the selected candidate
    • Attend weekly staff meetings

$23 - $28 hourly
