MIT Solve kicks off the 2021 Indigenous Communities Fellowship application cycle with the Virtual Indigenous Innovators Summit. On February 10 and 11, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Solve initiative is hosting a Virtual Indigenous Innovators Summit to highlight their Indigenous Fellowship program that has supported 21 Native American innovators from across the country since 2018.

Over the course of the two-day summit, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the leaders of a number of prominent Native organizations, as well as participate in panels that will cover important issues of today such as COVID-19, Native Wealth, and a screening of the film 

Additionally, prospective applicants to Solve’s 2021 Indigenous Communities Fellowship will have the opportunity to learn about the application process, and hear from past Fellows about their experiences. Learn more about the Summit here: https://

During Inauguration week, Indian Country will be introduced to two new federal partners: the 117th Congress and the Biden-Harris Administration. In the 116th Congress, tribal priorities were included in a range of bills and Indian Country collectively secured over 13 billion in tribal relief in two COVID-19 relief packages. Tribal nations, again, seek to rigorously advocate for tribal needs in Congress’ early legislative work. In support of this effort, this webinar will provide an overview of the early legislative priorities of the 117th Congress and the Biden-Harris Administration and educate attendees on how they can strategically advance tribal priorities in anticipated fast moving legislation.

THE RESILIENCY TRAINING AND INNOVATION CENTER AT THE BLUE LAKE RANCHERIA

Field Force Operations (FFO) is a three-day course providing state and local law enforcement personnel the

knowledge and skills necessary to prepare for and successfully mitigate threat incidents involving civil disorder.

FFO combines classroom instruction with practical exercises that afford responders the opportunity to practice

concepts and tactics in a controlled environment. Activities included in this course are mass arrest procedures,

team tactics, demonstrator tactics, crowd dynamics and mob behavior, use of riot control agents and less lethal

munitions, and the employment of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Below are some, but not all, of the critical skill sets learned during this training program

• Understand how the First, Fourth, Eight and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution relate to civil action disorder.

• Express the considerations and processes for conducting

mass arrests during civil action/disorder.

• Act as a member of an arrest team and remove an arrestee using both two- and four-officer carry techniques.

• Serve as a member of a mobile field force (MFF) team while conducting dismounted crowd control operations with and without personal protective equipment (PPE).

If students don’t have this gear, it will be provided to them.

 Since 2000, CILA hosts an annual conference dedicated to the exploration of legal topics of interest to California Indian tribes and to provide continuing education on cutting edge legal issues for Native attorneys and attorneys practicing Native law in California. Over the past 20 years, the conference has tackled important issues ranging from employment law, gaming compacting, Indian child welfare, environmental compliance, and more. The safety of our communities and elders is of paramount importance to CILA. In light of COVID-19 (coronavirus), the CILA Board of Directors has decided to take our conference online this year. ? California Indian Law Association is pleased to announce that the 20th Annual California Indian Law Conference and Awards Celebration will be held virtually October 15-16, 2020. 20th Annual California Indian Law Conference and Honoring Celebration

We are excited to announce the Virtual Southeastern Art Show and Market (SEASAM) and SEASAM Youth for 2020. Beginning Oct. 2 through Dec. 31, enjoy art from talented Southeastern and Woodland First American artists. SEASAM has been a part of the Chickasaw Annual Meeting & Festival since 2005 and provides an outstanding marketplace where adult and youth artists can flourish. There will be judges' awards in both adult and youth categories, as well as a People’s Choice Award. The SEASAM award winners will be announced on Oct. 1, 2020 during virtual Cultural Evening as part of the Chickasaw Annual Meeting and Festival. Following Cultural Evening, the Virtual SEASAM and SEASAM Youth market will be available.

. National Voter Registration Day has grown into a 50-state holiday where thousands of organizations and volunteers organize to ensure our family, friends, and neighbors are registered to vote. Since it was first celebrated, nearly 3 million Americans have registered on the holiday.

Join us for a special edition of the Taking Action in 2020 series as we feature guest speakers from across Indian Country to speak about voter registration, Get-Out-The-Vote efforts, and share resources on how to get registered on September 22!
